FAQs
Do your custom curtains come with curtain rods or tracks?
No. Our curtains don’t come with curtain rods or tracks. But you can order them separately here.
The price is for one curtain or a pair?
It’s for one panel curtain. If you select the quantity of 1, there will be 1 panel curtain in your order.
How do I measure my windows for custom curtains?
1. To measure your windows for custom curtains, start by measuring the width.
For inside-mounted curtains, measure the narrowest point from one side of the window frame to the other.
For outside-mounted curtains, measure the width of the space where the curtains will hang, typically extending 6-10 inches beyond the window frame on each side.
2. Next, measure the height. For inside-mounted curtains, measure from the top of the window frame to the desired length (e.g., window sill, below the sill, or floor). For outside-mounted curtains, measure from a few inches above the window frame to the desired length (usually to the floor or slightly above).
3. Lastly, consider the fullness, as curtains typically need to be 1.5 to 3 times the width of the window, depending on the fabric and the desired look. The more fabric used, the fuller your custom curtains will look.
Use our Measurement Tool to work out the best panel width and panel length instantly.
What fabrics are available for custom curtains?
UniCurt offers a wide selection of high-quality fabrics for custom curtains, including:
1. Linen Curtains: Naturally textured and breathable, linen offers relaxed elegance with an airy feel ideal for warm climates, perfect for bed rooms and living rooms.
2. Velvet Curtains: Our luxuriously thick velvet provides superior blackout performance and thermal insulation for a cozy, sophisticated space.
3. Sheer Curtains: UniCurt’s lightweight sheer curtains filter soft light while maintaining privacy, adding elegant brightness to any room.
4. Cotton Curtains: Durable and breathable cotton delivers a crisp, cozy look perfect for casual or traditional decor, perfect for adding inviting ambaince to your home.
5. Polyester Curtains: Affordable and low-maintenance, fade-resistant polyester offers vibrant patterns and wrinkle-free durability.
How do I understand "Width of Curtain"?
The width you input is the same as the final curtain panel width.
When it comes to curtains in double/triple pinch plea heading, the “Width of Curtain” refers to the width after pleats-made. And pleated curtain panel is measured from the left pleats to the right pleat, not including the side tucks.
2-2.5 Times fabric is used to create pleats and folds.
How should I measure the pinch pleated curtains?
For double/triple pinch pleat curtains, the recommended width is 1x of the curtain rod/track. And measure the length from the ring where the curtain hooks/clips are attached. (the “Width of Curtain” refers to the width after pleats-made for plteated curtains)
Do I need to do body memory shape for my curtains?
Memory training is a process that allows your curtains to retain their pleats and folds and saves you time in future maintenance.
For more information about UniCurt Memory training technology, please visit here.
Is memory training suitable for all heading styles?
Memory training process is suitable for grommet, double/triple pinch pleat heading styles, so that they can keep the clean pleats/waves and offer a sleek look.
However, memory training doesn’t support heading styles like rod pocket, back tap and tap top, as their construction and attachment are inherently designed to maintain the intended look.
Does memory training work for all curtain fabrics?
Memory training is suitable for most fabrics, but not for velvet fabric.
We don’t recommend adding memory train to velvet fabric as high heat may damage velvet fibers (causing fraying, shrinking) and fade colors.
What is the maximum curtain size suitable for Memory Training?
160 inches Width; 246 inches Length. Curtains exceeding the maximum size cannot be memory-shaped.
Do curtains come with hooks/clips?
Yes, our custom curtains, tipically pinch pleated curtains, come with adjustable hooks. They are usually pre-set in the pleats, and they allow 2.5 inches of wiggle room in height.
Do you provide rods and tracks?
Yes, we provide custom curtain rods(with rings) and tracks. Curtains don’t come with tracks or rods, by default.
UniCurt curtain rods and tracks are available in various colors, finials, single and double types to match different decor styles. View more.
If I order both curtains and hardware, will they come in one package or different package?
If you order both custom curtains and curtain rods/tracks, they will be shipped in different packages. As a special package is needed for curtain rods/tracks for better shipment.
If you only receive one package, please don’t worry and allow a few more days for the rest of the packages.
How many curtain rings will I need?
For pinch pleat curtains, the space between pleats is 6.5″. To calculate the number of rings needed, please divide your panel width by 6.5, then add 1. For example, a 26″ wide panel would need 6 rings (26÷6.5+1=5).
What is the maximum size of your extra-large curtains without a seam?
That depends on the curtain fabric.
1. For solid curtains like linen curtains, the maximum finished curtain width without a seam is 104 inches(for pinch pleated curtains, it’s 52 inches) for curtain lengths above 104 inches. For curtain lengths below 104 inches, there is no seam and no limits on the width.
However, if both the finished width and length exceed 104 inches, curtains will come with a hidden seam to meet the size.
2. For patterned curtains like floral curtains, it depends on the exact fabric and pattern as rotating patterns may not be applicable. Check our Guide or contact us with the exact style you like, and we will provide a perfect solution for you.
Does darker liner work better in blocking lights?
Yes, darker liners (same fabric type) block more light than lighter ones. For example, black liners block better than beige.
However, liner may slightly change the color of the curtains, especially dark liner. Therefore, selecting curtain liners requires balancing light-blocking effectiveness and color compatibility with the curtain fabric.
What heading styles do you provide?
UniCurt’s customizable header styles include pinch pleat (double/triple), grommet, rod pocket, tap top, back tap, and ripple-fold styles.
None you would like? Just let us know, and we can provide personalized heading customization!
Do you provide decorative curtains or unique style ones?
Yes! One of our missions is to provide unique curtains that tell stories and serve as decorative elements, particularly in side panels. Check our designer curtains and abstract curtains.
